In short

In Istanbul many procedures cost a fraction of UK private prices, and anaesthesia, hospital stay and transfers are included in the package. On the other hand you pay for flights and a hotel, need to stay 5–10 days, and aftercare at home is more complicated than with a surgeon near you.

Extra costs to budget for Istanbul

  • Return flights to Istanbul
  • Hotel for about 5–9 nights (depending on the procedure)
  • Time off: 5–10 days in Istanbul, then 1–2 weeks of recovery at home depending on the operation
  • Possibly a companion
  • Follow-up checks at home

Advantages of Istanbul

  • Much lower prices with a transparent package
  • High patient volume → experienced teams
  • Anaesthesia, hospital, transfers and WhatsApp aftercare included
  • No deposit – pay on the day of surgery
  • English-speaking consultants

Advantages of the UK

  • Surgeon and follow-up close to home
  • No flight shortly after surgery (blood-clot risk)
  • UK law and complaint routes apply
  • No travel or hotel costs
  • Two consultations and a cooling-off period are easier to arrange

Important: the NHS and complications

The NHS does not fund cosmetic surgery. If you have surgery privately abroad, the NHS will treat emergencies, but it has no obligation to provide routine aftercare – follow-up recommended by an overseas surgeon may have to be paid privately. That is why complication insurance and WhatsApp aftercare with our surgical team are included in our packages.

How to make the right decision

  1. Check the clinic's licence (in Turkey: Ministry of Health health-tourism authorisation).
  2. Get a written plan and final price – what is included and what is not?
  3. Ask who operates and meet your surgeon in person before surgery.
  4. Allow enough time in Istanbul and book your flight home only after your surgeon clears you.
  5. Talk to your GP before you commit.
